Challenge
As Chaz LaRue began to grow as a fashion brand, they set out to create a product that felt both distinctive and familiar. The goal was a piece that reflected the brand’s values; thoughtful design, quality materials, and everyday accessibility. It needed to feel elevated, but still approachable to their customers.
The opportunity was to create a signature product that could help define the brand while remaining versatile enough to evolve with different styles and seasons.

Approach
The Jackie bag draws from classic silhouettes and timeless materials. During the design process, we looked to the founders’ family history for inspiration. Particularly the craftsmanship of the founder’s grandmother, a seamstress whose work emphasized durability, precision, and care.
This influence guided our approach to material selection and construction. Through extensive prototyping and material exploration, we refined the bag’s proportions, stitching, and hardware details to balance simplicity with character.
Interchangeable straps were introduced to extend the bag’s versatility, allowing it to move easily between different styles and occasions.
Denim, an enduring fabric that has transcended eras and social contexts, became the defining material. Its familiarity provided a sense of nostalgia, while careful refinement of form, stitching, and finishing gave the bag a modern, elevated feel.
Outcome
The Jackie became a defining piece within the Chaz LaRue collection. The bag balances heritage and modernity—drawing from traditional craftsmanship while presenting a clean, contemporary silhouette.
