Challenge
As a design studio, we were honored to partner with Gathre to bring their Activity Walker to life—a project that beautifully illustrates the power of purposeful design and aligned values. From the outset, the goal was clear: to create a walker that felt as intentional and elevated as the rest of Gathre’s product line—an object that didn’t just support a child’s early development but also complemented the aesthetics of a modern home.
Approach
Collaborative Concepting
Working closely with the Gathre team, we began by understanding their deep connection to their audience: design-conscious parents who don’t want to sacrifice beauty for functionality. Through collaborative brainstorming and hands-on working sessions, we mapped out key features—sensory engagement, fine motor development, and early mobility support—while ensuring every element was rooted in timeless design.
Designing for Manufacturability
One of our guiding principles throughout the process was to design with manufacturability and quality in mind. Every detail—from the way the xylophone was mounted, to the tolerance on the friction-adjustable wheels—was considered not only for form and function, but for durability, safety, and production feasibility. We worked closely with Gathre’s production partners to ensure that materials, finishes, and construction methods would meet their high standards for quality and user experience.
Aesthetic Integration
Inspired by Gathre’s palette and brand DNA, we developed a minimal, neutral-toned product that naturally fits within any room. The use of wood tones and soft curves harmonizes with Gathre’s signature look, elevating the walker beyond toy status to a piece that feels like part of the home.
Outcome
The finished product is a true reflection of Gathre’s vision—designed for little hands but built for big impact. It’s a developmental tool, a toy, and a piece of decor, all in one. Our collaboration with Gathre highlights how working with an aligned, creative partner can lead to something both beautiful and purposeful.
